Expressia Manifesto
A public declaration of policy or aims:
Sandbox of Expression: Manifesto.
In an effort to broaden my artistic horizons I have created a program for myself to investigate different modes of expression. As a studying actor, I have acquired a thirst for knowledge under the tutelage and example of many an astounding professional artist. Thus I find it necessary, and was encouraged to go out and learn how best to express myself though different means and media, with an overall goal to solidify, and better understand my chosen career path, and also my life, my self, and the people involved in everything I do.
All those wonderful things said, there are rules. And rules is rules.
I have assigned myself 12 areas of study, one for each month of this year. They are as follows, and are subject to change.
Jan: Creative Writing/Narrative
Feb: Cartooning/Sketching
Mar: Dance
Apr: Make-up/special effects
May: Photography
June: Film
July: Sculpting
Aug: Mask-making
Sept: Painting
Oct: Poetry
Nov: Songwriting
Dec: Musical Performance
A rough schedule for each month:
Week 1: Research
Week 2: Conceptualization
Week 3: Execution/Presentation
Week 4: Final Thoughts/Critique/Touch-ups
The reason for this schedule, and its malleable nature, has its roots in my sanity. I will be attending school through parts of this process, and (hopefully) holding down a serving-type job at some local coffee-type establishment.
In addition to this gargantuan undertaking, I will also attempt to read 50 Books. Being a very vague category, ‘Books’ will become a blanket statement for an idea contained within the written word. Ex. A play, a novel, a collection of short stories, a non-fiction instructional dialogue, essentially; something notable. I hope, that as a follower of this endeavor, you can trust that I will make some honorable decisions in my literary journey, which I will catalogue in an enjoyable fashion.
I also endeavor to learn the intricacies of a number of other topics that I have always found interesting.
Any questions or comments or criticisms or helpful information will be greatly appreciated and highly encouraged. no slanderous remarks, please - we’re above that, yeah?
other than all that nonsense, wish me luck!
eversomething,
Mark
